Baker stays unbeaten with 8-5 win
Jordan Pinto drove in two runs to back the four-inning pitching of Chris Menendez Friday night and carry unbeaten Ida Baker to an 8-5 victory at South Fort Myers.
Menendez (1-0) allowed one earned run while striking out four to earn the win. Gabe Villaverde contributed two hits for the Bulldogs (6-0), who travel to Venice on Tuesday.
Cape Coral 13, Golden Gate 0: Shane McClanahan and Reed Harris tossed a combined no-hitter Friday as Cape Coral routed Golden Gate in five innings.
McClanahan struck out four in his four innings of work. Harris pitched a perfect inning to close it out.
Dylan Bontrager collected three base hits and drove in three runs while Kenny Gutierrez added two hits and three RBI. Kyle Arjona also contributed a pair of hits.
The Seahawks broke open the game with a six-run third inning rally and take a 4-1 record into Tuesday’s game at Mariner.
Mariner 19, Immokalee 4: Immokalee grabbed a four-run lead in the first inning Friday night, but Anthony Lopez settled down to shut the Indians out while Mariner countered with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning to open the flood gates in a five-inning mercy-rule victory.
Brandon Feehery led the Tritons offensively with five RB*I off three base hits. Dante Ciminati and Christian Velez each contributed two hits and four RBI.
The Tritons (3-2) host Cape Coral on Tuesday.
Softball
Immokalee 4, Mariner 0: Immokalee held Mariner to just three singles Friday night in a shutout victory.
Kaylyn Friday (2-3) took the loss on the mound. The Tritons (4-2) host Cape Coral on Tuesday.
Cape Coral 4, Golden Gate 0: Makenzie Buss led Cape Coral to a shutout victory Friday over Golden Gate by spraying three base hits resulting in two runs and four stolen bases.
Buss (4-1) also allowed just three hits while striking out nine to earn the pitching decision.
The Seahawks (5-1) visit Mariner on Tuesday.
North Fort Myers 16, Port Charlotte 4: Melinda Thirion drove in four runs with two hits, including a triple, to lead North Fort Myers to a five inning victory over Port Charlotte on Friday.
MacKenzie Peterson drove in three runs with three base hits while Katelyn Kelly, Natavia Ellis and Alynn Kayatte each contributed two hits to back winning pitcher Maddy White.
The Red Knights (5-1) host Lehigh on Monday.
