Oasis finished off the regular season Thursday night with a decisive 74-28 victory over East Lee County.

Jordan Westendorf led a trio of Sharks in double figures with a double-double effort of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Samantha Wood chipped in with 13 points and eight assists with Shayna Scalise contributing 11 points.

“I am very proud of the way the girls played tonight,” said Sharks coach Sam Wood. “Ten of our 12 players scored and we gave a great defensive effort. We buckled down and allowed them just four points in the second half.”

The Sharks (13-9) take on Bishop Verot Tuesday night in the semifinals of the District 4A-11 Tournament at Dunbar.

In other tournament action, host and No. 1 seed Dunbar awaits the winner between Monday’s first-round contest between LaBelle and Gateway Charter in the other semifinal on Tuesday.

Cypress Lake 41, Cape Coral 33: Cypress Lake halted Cape High’s three-game winning streak Thursday night by a narrow margin.

C.J. Lewis was the only double-figure scorer for the Seahawks (8-13), who host Island Coast on Tuesday.

“Basketball is more than just Xs and Os,” said Seahawks coach Tom Kenna. “It think they just played harder than we did.”

Lehigh 82, Island Coast 60: Without leading scorer Sam Merchant, cut from the team for violating team rules, Island Coast made a game of it Thursday night only to lose to powerful Lehigh in a game judged closer than the final score would indicate.

Matt Jeannelas topped the Gators with 23 points and eight rebounds while Colin Chisolm pitched in 10 points and seven rebounds. Lehigh was led by a quartet of double-figure scorers.

“We played well even though we have revamped some things,” said Gators coach Greg Coleman. “We are down to 10 guys on our roster and we have less than two weeks to get better before districts. Tonight, I think we got better. We stayed close until they kind of stretched it out at the end.”

The Gators (12-9) host Port Charlotte on Friday.

Charlotte 68, Bishop Verot 65: Bishop Verot wasted a golden opportunity to pick up another victory Thursday night by allowing Charlotte to scratch out the win at the end.

“We had a chance to win it,” said Vikings coach Matt Herting. “A very good chance.”

Thaddeus Ward led all scorers with 25 points with Stephen Wagner tacking on 18 points and Hunter Hand 16. The Vikings (9-14) play at Dunbar on Saturday.
