North Fort Myers’ girls soccer team had their undefeated season come to a screeching halt Monday night with a 5-4 loss to Gulf Coast at Moody Field.

The Sharks claimed a 2-0 lead off a free kick and a carom off the post before North got on the board before halftime.

Two quick goals by the Sharks in the second half boosted the lead to 4-1 and put the Red Knights in comeback mode. The Knights scored the next two goals to trim the margin to 4-3.

That’s when the Sharks scored the game-winner with nine minutes remaining. The Knights countered with their final goal less than two minutes later, but were unable to score the equalizer.

Goalkeeper Coral Jarvis made nine saves. Madison Lampkins accounted for two goals and two assists with Randi Lukas tacking on the other two goals for the Knights (8-1), who host South Fort Myers Tuesday night.
