Bishop Verot took control from the outset Tuesday night en route to a 55-38 victory at Cape Coral.

Stephen Wagner and T-Boy Ward led the Vikings with game-high scoring totals of 17 and 15 points, respectively. Matt Medovich contributed a double-double effort of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

“We led pretty much start to finish,” said Vikings coach Matt Herting. “We were able to hit some three pointers early and hit some shots to stretch the lead.”

Both teams converted nine three-point baskets. Joe Mesami led the Seahawks with 12 points.

The Vikings (2-1) play at LaBelle on Tuesday while the Seahawks (0-2) are in action Friday in the Island Coast Thanksgiving Shootout against Jensen Beach.

Girls Basketball

Mariner 47, Riverdale 24: Senior Mariah Ortiz hit a game-high 20 points Tuesday afternoon to lead Mariner to a victory at Riverdale before the student body and staff.

Sophomore Grace Waller pitched in with 13 points while Katie Adams applied pressure defense on the ball to force turnovers that led to transition baskets for the Tritons (3-1), who open play in the Bokamper Thanksgiving tournament at Barron Collier Wednesday against Community School of Naples.

Oasis 56, Ida Baker 12: Samantha Wood and Jordan Westendorf combined for 28 points Tuesday night to lead Oasis to a lopsided victory over Ida Baker.

Wood had a game-high 15 points and Westendorf 13. The Sharks (5-2) host Moore Haven next Monday.

Girls Soccer

North Fort Myers 12, Dunbar 0: Eight different players scored goals Tuesday night as unbeaten North Fort Myers pummeled Dunbar.

Madison Lampkins led the Red Knights in scoring with three goals and two assists. Megan Richards, Tori Kowalczyk and Macey Earhart each contributed two goals. Taylor Pascal and Lamplins came away with two assists apiece.

North’s goalkeeper faced no shots on goal. The Knights (8-0, 4-0 district) host Gulf Coast on Monday.

Mariner 0, Bishop Verot 0 (tie): Bishop Verot used outstanding defense to settle for a scoreless tie with Mariner Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper Kinzie Frey made one save for the Vikings with assistance from defensive backs Kelsey Bromwell and Alexis Zerwoert.

“It should have been 4-0,” said Vikings coach Randy Zavada. “We had opportunities, but just could not put it in the net.”

Verot outshot Mariner 9-3.

Verot (5-3-2) hosts Fort Myers on Monday.
