Fresh off Tuesday’s tie with crosstown rival Mariner, the Cape Coal Seahawks pulled out a 2-1 victory Wednesday night at Bishop Verot to remain undefeated.

James “Canon” Smith scored the Seahawks’ first goal off an assist by Gianni Cognata. Cognata also assisted on Kevin Retana’s game-winning score while goalkeeper Kyal Weber made three saves to preserve the victory.

Weston Cole scored for the Vikings with goalkeeper Ricardo Martinez making 16 saves.

The Seahawks (5-0-1) host Tampa Jesuit at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings host First Baptist on Monday.

Cypress Lake 2, Mariner 0: Cypress Lake dealt Mariner its first defeat of the young soccer season Wednesday night.

“We created plenty of scoring opportunities, we just couldn’t finish the play,” said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas. “We had opportunites in both halves, but we weren’t well organized tonight. We played with more intensity in the second half, but it was a little late.”

The Tritons (5-1-1) are idle until Dec. 3 when they host Estero.
