Verot needs ‘extras’ to down Canterbury

It took Bishop Verot the equivalent of nine extra innings to come away with a victory over Canterbury Thursday night.

The host Vikings finally prevailed in the fourth game that went nine extra points 25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 34-32.

Alyssa Collins led the Vikings with a double-double of 11 kills and 17 digs while Taya Leonard pitched in with seven kills to go with 26 assists. Lauren Homolka contributed 25 digs and handled a game-high 27 service receives.

The Vikings (8-1) participate in the Wildcat Invitational tournament Saturday at Estero.
