District football action continues Friday night for District 5A-14 teams as Cape Coral and Island Coast host district rivals.

The Seahawks (4-0, 1-0 district) tangle with North Fort Myers (2-2, 1-0) at Dave Warkentin Stadium while the Gators (3-1, 1-0) welcome the Mariner Tritons (0-4, 0-1) to the Swamp.

Ida Baker (1-3) hosts Estero (1-3) and Bishop Verot (1-2) travels to LaBelle (0-3) in non-district matchups.

“The playoffs and title are still ahead of us,” said Baker coach Brian Conn. “We are not where we thought we would be at this point in the season. We continue to battle the turnover bug and are addressing that in practice with ball security drills.”

The Bulldogs have played three close games, winning one of them. They and Estero should feel good about this matchup despite being banged up a bit.

“We just have to keep working and stay positive,” said Conn. “We are getting our newer players some experience. We just have to keep at it and get focused on the district.”

In other area games of interest tonight: Dunbar (0-3) makes its District 5A-14 debut at Lemon Bay (2-2, 0-1); Fort Myers (4-0) hosts Barron Collier (1-3); Lehigh (1-3) travels to Port Charlotte (3-1); South Fort Myers (3-1) journeys to Belen Jesuit Prep; Gulf Coast (3-1) heads to Immokalee (2-2); Palmetto Ridge (2-2) entertains Lely (1-2); and Charlotte (2-1) invades Lakewood Ranch.
