Blades add blue-liner

Defenseman Matt Mangene is the latest player to agree to terms for the upcoming ECHL season with the Florida Everblades.

Mangene, 25, joins the Everblades after spending most of last season in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Phantoms and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound blue liner recorded six points (3g, 3a) in 51 games with the Phantoms and was scoreless in 10 appearances with Bridgeport. In addition, Mangene registered five points (1g, 4a) in six games played with the Stockton Thunder (ECHL).

“Matt is a fast skating, puck moving defenseman who is good defensively,” said Everblades coach Greg Poss. “He has a good amount of experience at the next level in the AHL, and we look forward to having him as a top defenseman on our team this season.”

Mangene is the 17th player, and sixth defenseman, to agree to terms with the Everblades for 2014-15. He joins forwards Mitch Wahl, Chris Kushneriuk, Kyle Stroh, Alex Lavoie, Mike Cichy, Mike Silengo, Evan Bloodoff, Jason Wilson, Kevin Lynch, Adam Brace, Gabriel Desjardins and defensemen Mike Little, Jordan Henry, Tyson Gimblett, Cameron Burt, and Kevin Hart.
