WCI Communities Junior Golf Foundation has awarded scholarships to six outstanding high school golfers in Lee and Collier counties.

The annual Academic & Athletic Achievement Award scholarship program, now in its 12th year, has awarded more than $200,000 to deserving high school seniors who exhibit skill, talent and dedication, both on and off the links.

Mariel Rickert and Steven Reynolds of Bishop Verot High School, Andrea Grouch and Matthew Taylor of Barron Collier High School each receive a $3,000 scholarship from the foundation.

Georgia Price of Fort Myers High and Dylan Fine of Ida Baker each receive a $1,500 scholarship.

“We are committed to supporting students who seek to further their education and have developed an appreciation for the game of golf. Many applicants express how golf has helped them with life lessons, such as patience, perseverance, honesty and integrity,” said Ed Weber, foundation board member.

The scholarship program was launched in 2000 to recognize students committed to the future of golf.

Junior golfers must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have participated in a WCI Junior Golf event or similar tour within the last year.
