CORAL GABLES – Behind 10 unanswered runs to open the game, the University of Miami handed FGCU a 13-2 defeat Tuesday night at Alex Rodriguez Park.

The Hurricanes plated a run in each of the first five innings en route to taking a 10-0 lead. Miami improved to 15-11 on the season, while FGCU slips to 13-13 heading into this weekend’s Atlantic Sun series at ETSU.

Senior Tim Roberson and freshman Jake Foley contributed multiple hits toward the team’s seven hits, but the Eagles left nine runners left on base. Foley’s 2-for-4 included an RBI. Senior Robert Greene drove in the other run. Senior Zach Maxfield supplied his team-leading 11th double in a 1-for-3 night at the plate.

Miami finished the game with 11 hits, aided by eight walks issued by Eagles pitchers.

The Eagles are back in action Friday at ETSU (14-7, 6-4).
