Fishing Capt. George Tunison shows off a 20-inch permit he caught recently while fishing known redfish areas on the flats off Matlacha under cloudless, high blue skies and using light tackle. Thinking he had hooked a fish 10 times its size, a solid chrome permit swam into view after a 10-minute fight. Tunison and his fishing partner Brian Davis of Matlacha brought the fish aboard for some quick pictures and a strong release. It is only the third permit caught on his boat, said Tunison, who writes the weekly fishing column for the Saturday Breeze.
