Blades still spinning from call-ups

2 min read

Two more Florida Everblades players have been recalled to the American Hockey League with a pair of replacements added to the roster Tuesday.

In addition to goaltender Jaroslav Janus being called up Monday by the Norfolk Admirals, netminder Bobby Goepfert was summoned by the Charlotte Checkers Tuesday. It’s the second trip to Charlotte this season for Goepfert, who did not see any playing time in his previous visit.

In 41 games with the Everblades, the 27-year-old is 23-12-3 with a 2.73 GAA.

Forward Cedric McNicoll was called up to Charlotte Tuesday as well. It is McNicoll’s second stint this season after accumulating six points (2g, 4a) in six games on his first call-up in January. He has accounted for 23 points (7g, 16a) in 29 games with the Everblades.

To fill the goaltending void, the Everblades signed free agent Mike Zacharias, 25, who began the season by playing 20 games with Idaho.

Forward Dusty Collins returned to the Blades from his most recent AHL call-up to Oklahoma City. Collins had appeared in just one game with the Blades after being acquired in a trade with Ontario on March 11. Since then, the 26-year-old has made two trips to the AHL playing in three games with Toronto and Oklahoma City.

The Blades return to home ice at Germain Arena Wednesday when they host the Wheeling Nailers.
