Tritons stop 3-game skid
The Mariner Tritons got back on the winning track Wednesday, getting a solid pitching performance from senior Justin Gubelman and timely hitting to post a 4-1 victory over Coral Glades in the consolation round of the Sarasota Baseball Classic.
Gubelman (3-2) hurled a complete-game, three-hitter while striking out 10 as the Tritons (8-5) snapped a three-game losing streak. They continue tournament play Thursday against an opponent to be determined.
Senior Alex Santana and junior Charlie Klein delivered RBI singles in the first inning to get the Tritons on top. Tyler Bender drove in a run in the fourth with a double while Jason Carmichael and Walter Cleary had two hits apiece.

Bishop Verot 9, Wellington 1: Dan Vogelbach added some insurance with a solo home run in the third inning, his sixth long ball of the season, to spark Bishop Verot to victory in the Sarasota Baseball Classic.
The Vikings (9-2) play again in the consolation bracket of the tournament Thursday.
