Blades jerseys raise $16,400
Florida Everblades fans helped raised $16,400 for five different cancer charities recently during the team’s annual “Pink in the Rink” jersey auction, the team announced Wednesday.
Last weekend, the Everblades’ “Pink in the Rink Weekend” helped raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Everblades players wore special pink jerseys that were auctioned off after Saturday’s game. Net proceeds are being donated to four Southwest Florida and one national charities.
The money raised benefits the Cancer Alliance of Naples, Cape Coral Relay for Life, For Kids Foundation and Partner’s For a Breast Cancer Cure. A portion of the proceeds are going to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure fund.
The jersey of team-leader in games played, Ernie Hartlieb, raised the most at $1,800. Rounding out the top five jerseys were Francis Lemieux ($1,200), Jared Staal ($1,050), Jaroslav Janus ($900) and Drew Larman ($850).
