Blades’ top scorer called up to AHL

Florida Everblades forward Francis Lemieux was called up to the American Hockey League Monday by the Connecticut Whale.

Lemieux, 26, heads back to the AHL for the second time this season where he played in two games for the Manitoba Moose in December. He heads to Connecticut with the ECHL’s highest point total at 72. His goal total of 28 is tied for third-most in the league and his assists total of 44 ranks second in the ECHL.

Lemieux spent the majority of his career in the AHL where he has 251 career games of experience with Hamilton, Grand Rapids and Manitoba since his rookie season in 2005.

The Everblades (30-24-3) return to action for two road games Saturday and Sunday with the South Carolina Stingrays. The Everblades’ next home game is March 4 against the Stingrays at 7:30 p.m.
