Osterbrock gets first Miracle win
VIERA – After a disappointing loss Thursday night, the Fort Myers Miracle pitching staff was impressive Friday night in limiting Brevard County to just one hit in a 6-0 victory.
In his fifth start with the Miracle, Dan Osterbrock (1-4) finally broke through with a win. He allowed just a first-inning single to Matt Cline. The lefty lasted two outs into the seventh before passing things off to Jose Gonzalez, who retired the final seven batters in order, including four strikeouts.
Scoreless through four innings, the Miracle broke through with four runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded and two out, Deibinson Romero smoked a line-drive up the middle to score two runs. Evan Bigley hit a ball off the left-field wall to bring home the final two runs of the inning.
The score stayed the same until the Miracle tacked on two runs in the eighth.
Jhonathan Goncavles singled in a run with the bases loaded before Joe Benson drew a walk to put Fort Myers up 6-0.
It is the second time the Miracle have tossed a one-hit shutout, the first by Kyle Gibson on April 29th.
Gibson, Billy Bullock, Bobby Lanigan and Yangervis Solarte were voted to the All-Star team. Gibson and Solarte were promoted to Double-A New Britain and won’t participate and Lanigan currently is on the disabled list.
