Special to the Breeze

A great day of fishing became even more special for David Bawcom and Susan Stone of Austin, Texas, who reeled in their first goliath grouper on March 28 near the Sanibel Causeway. The fish is estimated to weigh between 350 and 400 pounds. It was hooked aboard a charter boat with Capt. George Howell, who conducts fishing classes about once a month at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. Being a protected species, the goliath was photographed, unhooked and returned to the sea.
