Cape judo students win medals at Venice tournament
Sixteen students represented Kodokan Judo of Cape Coral last weekend in the Gulf Coast Judo Tournament in Venice.
It was the first tournament for six of the students, who have only had five weeks of training under Sensei John Paccione.
In the junior white belt division, Dontay Friga, 4, William Scroggins, 7, and Hannah Mullaney, 7, took home silver medals. In the senior white belt division, Tony Harwood won gold, Felipe Flores a silver and Matt Tamulionis a bronze medal.
Raphael (Raffy) Marascio and Max Ruroede were undefeated to earn bold along with Erica Paccione, who fought five times and scored four wins. Paige Ruroede, Sean Mullaney and Mark Tamulionis won silver along with Justin Bonsall.
Mackenzie Bonsall won a bronze medal along with Christina Paccione, who fought in a 10-year-old division as a 7-year-old.
