Former Blades goalie wins his NHL debut
Former Florida Everblades goaltender Justin Peters made his NHL debut Saturday night, stopping 34 shots and allowing just one goal in the Carolina Hurricanes’ 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders.
Peters is the second former Everblades goaltender in less than a week to make his debut and record a win – Anton Khudobin won his debut for Minnesota last Thursday. Overall, Peters becomes the 19th Blades player to appear in the NHL.
Peters, 23, made his debut due to an injury to goaltender Cam Ward, who is scheduled to see a back specialist. It is the fifth time Peters has been called up to the NHL, but just the first game action he has seen.
The 6-foot-1, 213-pound goaltender spent 2007-08 with the Everblades, posting a record of 18-10-2 and .922 save percentage. He appeared in 32 Everblades games from 2006-08.
