Prep Report: Free throws lift Cape past North 52-45
Despite being held to just two field goals in the second half, the Cape Coral Seahawks managed to pull out a 52-45 boys’ basketball victory over North Fort Myers Tuesday night.
Lucky for the Seahawks, they were hitting their free throws – 23-of-38 overall.
“I would say we just survived,” said Seahawks coach Mark Rinehart.
The Seahawks led the entire game before giving it up with about two minutes remaining. That’s when Santo Figueroa, David Flynn and James McIntyre each hit a pair of crucial free throws down the stretch to regain the head and hold off the Red Knights.
Seahawks senior Joel Hill was the only player for either side to score in double figures with 20 points, including 9-of-14 at the free throw line.
The Seahawks (9-12) host Island Coast at 7 p.m. Friday at The Nest.
