Swim Florida, the largest and longest running swim club in Southwest Florida, recently hired Pavel Babaev to take over the Swim Florida FGCU team.
Babaev’s coaching and instruction experience includes elite swim camps, stroke and start clinics, fast paced camps, learn-to-swim programs and water safety classes.
In addition to his practice schedule, Babaev is volunteering with the FGCU women’s swim team and assisting them with dry land, weight room and sprinting routines.
Babaev’s swimming experience began at age 3 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and continues today as he still competes nationally. His career achievements include three-time high school MVP, four-year varsity award recipient, scholar athlete, all conference, and first-place winner at the 2000 state meet in the 50-yard freestyle.
In 2001, Babaev received a scholarship to Florida Atlantic University and broke team records in the 50 free, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay. He now is a graduate of FAU with a bachelor’s degree in health services with a major in health administration.
Babaev, 26, has a proven track record and is dedicated to swimming as a full-time career.
