Prep Report: Showers shorten golf rounds

Late afternoon rainshowers interrupted Thursday’s high school golf matches.

Ida Baker’s boys got in eight holes at Plantation before scattering for cover while Mariner’s boys played just six holes at Coral Oaks before the downpour came.

Dylan Fine shot even-par 32 to lead Baker to a 135-140 win over South Fort Myers. Ryan Gallick added a 33, Bryr Austen shot 34 and Miko Dougherty pitched in with 36.

South’s Alex Felice took medalist honors for the match with a 1-under 31.

C.J. Cricco posted the low score of 24 for the Tritons in a 106-135 win over Cypress Lake. Kyle Schulte carded a round of 25 and Dean Hofer a 26. All three rounds were lower than Drew London’s low figure of 30 for Cypress Lake.

Baker (5-3) goes back on the course at Palmetto Pine Country Club Tuesday when it hosts city rivals Mariner (6-2) and Cape Coral.

Mariner 106 – C.J. Cricco 24, Kyle Schulte 25, Dean Hofer 26, Dan Cohill 31.

Volleyball

Island Coast 3, Dunbar 1: The Island Coast Gators posted their second victory of the season with a 25-11, 25-11, 22-25, 25-12 win at Dunbar.

Junior Kelsey Gates led the Gators with five service aces, backed by sophomore Dana Ruff and Joanna Null each with three aces.

The Gators (2-8) play at Bishop Verot on Tuesday.
