Prep Report: Unbeaten Verot volleys to 7th win
A night after handing the unbeaten Fort Myers Green Wave their first defeat, the Bishop Verot Vikings had an easier time at LaBelle.
The Vikings extended their own unbeaten streak to seven with a straight-set 25-15, 25-15, 25-5 victory over the Cowboys.
Sarah Toggweiler led the Vikings with nine kills while Bridgette Ward accounted for seven kills.
Teammate Megan Dearden served three aces, Katie Mosher was credited with nine digs and Ciara Brown handed out 21 assists.
The Vikings (7-0) host their own invitational tournament next Friday and Saturday.
Boys Golf
At Port Charlotte Golf Club: Dylan Fine led undefeated Ida Baker to its 10th victory of the season by firing a 2-over-par 38 Thursday.
Baker (10-0) edged Port Charlotte 163-166 with four players scoring 42 or better. Michael Faulkner added a strong 41 while Cody Byers and Bryr Austen each carded 42.
Alex Skidmore topped the Pirates (4-9) with 39.
The Bulldogs tangle with Barron Collier and Fort Myers Tuesday at Eastwood Country Club.
