Prep Report: Seahawk swimmers coast
For the first time in the pool against rival competition, the Cape High Seahawks left Ida Baker and Cypress Lake in their wake Wednesday night.
Cape’s boys’ and girls’ teams won both meets by comfortable margins. Baker swimmers were second-best in both meets with Cypress Lake left in third.
The Seahawk boys piled up 152 points by winning 11 of the 12 events. Ida Baker (97) prevailed in diving with Cypress (55) going winless.
The Seahawk girls splashed to 161 points, winning all 12 events, to double-up Baker (72) and Cypress (61).
“It was a good meet to open up with,” said Seahawks coach Diane Kimble. “Everybody was enthusiastic and friendly. It was great experience for the new kids to get a taste of the competition.”
Graham Murza, Antonio Alvarez, Meghan Cotugno, Christina Todd and Shirley Langford each won two events.
Ida Baker’s lone win went to Sean O’Connor in boys’ diving.
The Seahawks return to the pool on Tuesday against another city rival, Mariner.
