After a few early miscues, the Mariner Tritons settled in and cruised past Gateway Charter 25-14, 25-8, 25-19 Tuesday night in a preseason volleyball match at Cape Coral High.

“Our service game was exceptional in Games 2 and 3,” said Tritons coach Tom Faasse, “and we played really good defense.”

Faasse added that because the Tritons have just nine varsity players it was a good opportunity to play six-on-six for the first time.

The Tritons face Lehigh in another preseason match at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cape.

Ida Baker 2, Dunbar 0: The Bulldogs used strong serving to overwhelm Dunbar 25-3, 25-8 in a preseason clash at North Fort Myers.
