Two area teams win 3v3 National title

Of the 17 teams representing Cape Coral and Lee County at the Challenge 3v3 National Championship soccer tournament this weekend at Disney’s Wide World of Sports, a total of four teams realized their goal of qualifying for the Kickit World Championships in January, also at Disney.

Two of those teams came home with age group championships – the Hickory Smoked Beef (U16 boys competitive) of Cape Coral and the Lee County Strikers (U17 boys comp.).

The other two teams qualifying for the World tournament both placed fourth in their age division – the Dynamite (U13 girls recreation) of Cape Coral and the Bad Ace Boys (U17 boys comp.) of Cape Coral.

Among the other 13 teams, five reached the Sweet 16 round – CSC Blue Devils (U10 boys rec.); Barcelona A (U11 boys comp.); Barcelona B and Pineapple Fury (U12 boys comp.); Sparking Spider Monkeys (U10 girls comp.).

Three teams advanced to the quarterfinals in their divisions – Blue Wave (U8 girls open); The Spartans (U12 girls comp.) and the Lady Cougars (U15 girls comp.).
