Miracle ride Hirschfeld gem
SARASOTA – It isn’t often when a 13-run production is overshadowed, but Steve Hirschfeld’s first career complete-game victory stole the spotlight Wednesday night in the Fort Myers Miracle’s 13- 0 dominance of the Sarasota Reds.
Hirschfeld (3-4) went the distance, allowing just three hits, walking one and striking out two. Reds runners reached second base in just two innings – in the first and the eighth.
A nine-run second inning – the Miracle’s second nine-run outburst this season – helped put the game out of reach early. Alex Soto crushed his first Miracle home run, a three-run shot. The Miracle sent 15 hitters to the plate in that inning.
Estarlin de los Santos (3-for-6) and Mark Dolenc (2-for-5) had two RBI apiece.
The Miracle banged out 17 total hits in their first game after Palm Beach handed them their first series sweep of the season.
The Miracle and Reds continue their three-game series at 7 p.m. Thursday.
