2 min read

Mike McCardell threw seven strong innings, Steve Singleton drove in four runs, and the Fort Myers Miracle got home runs from Chris Parmelee and Evan Bigley in a 7-5 victory Tuesday over the host Palm Beach Cardinals.

McCardell (9-5) is tied for the Florida State League in wins. He walked none and stuck out three before giving way to Spencer Steedley, who recorded his fifth save.

Ben Revere and Singleton had back-to-back triples in the first inning and Deibinson Romero added an RBI single to make it 2-0. Bigley hit his second home run, while Parmelee belted his 11th of the season.

n Guerra receives honor: A dazzling pitching performance turned in by Deolis Guerra led the Miracle to a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs last Thursday.

On Tuesday, it earned Guerra the Florida State League’s Pitcher of the Week accolade.

Guerra, 20, took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and finished with six strikeouts and only one walk in 7 1/3 innings.

The Venezuelan native has a 6-8 record and a 4.69 ERA this season. He was acquired by the Twins in the five-player trade that sent Johan Santana to the Mets in January of 2008.

Guerra is back on the mound Wednesday when the Miracle host the Sarasota Reds at Hammond Stadium.

It’s the first game of a six-game homestand.
