Cape Coral 9-10 team takes series

Madison Stratton pitched a complete game, Madison Valentine came through with a double, and the Cape Softball 9-10 All-Star team defeated Fort Myers 18-3 Tuesday night to sweep the best-of-three series.

The second game of the District 9 Little League All-Star series took place at Burton Field, after Cape prevailed in a wild 12-11 game at Fleishman Park Monday.

Cape took advantage of 15 walks issued by Fort Myers in Tuesday’s win. Stratton worked all four innings on the mound. The team advances to sectionals July 18 in Lehigh.

Fort Myers fought back in the Little League division, winning 10-0 over Cape Coral Tuesday at Burton Field. Cape won the opener 6-2 Monday. The decisive game is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Fleishman Park.

Baseball

n Cape American South picked up its second pool play win with a 6-1 victory over Cape American North at Koza-Saladino Park. Cape North dropped to 0-4.

Cape National fell 8-3 at North Fort Myers National in what was a battle of 3-0 teams in Pool 2. CCN can secure a spot in the championship series double-elimination tournament with a victory Thursday against Port Charlotte National at Murdock Park.
