Youth softball, baseball all-stars chosen
In recent years, Cape Coral Little League Softball has performed well in All-Star play, winning its share of district, regional and even state championships. That tradition is all well and good, but the focus is on competing for more championships this year.
Cape Softball sends four all-star teams to compete in tournaments during July and August.
“The girls are really excited. There is some incredible talent out there this year,” said league president Dyan Thompson. “The coaches that have been chosen bring talent and experience.”
The 13-14 year-old division doesn’t begin tournament play until August. They’ll start with regional play. The other three divisions begin July 6.
The senior division roster has not been finalized, but the league announced its 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 teams.

The Little League Baseball District 9 All-Star tournaments begin Monday with the 9-10 and 10-11 divisions. The 11-12 and junior tournaments begin June 29.
Cape Coral National and Cape Coral American send several teams into all-star competition.
