Cape girl wins regional PH&R

With each passing year, the Sullivan girls are showcasing their all-around softball skills.
A year after younger sister Becki Sullivan reached the Super Regionals of the Aquafina Pitch, Hit & Run contest, older sister Meghan decided to give it a try this season.
Meghan, 13, went on to capture the Super Regional title in the 13-14 year-old division at the event last Saturday in Orlando. She was the all-around winner with 856 points.
The victory put Meghan in contention for the national finals at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, but she finished just outside the top three, nationally.
Meghan, who will be a freshman at Southwest Florida Christian Academy, played for the Senior Wildcats at Cape Softball’s Burton Field this season. The team finished second in the county. She was recently selected to the league’s 13-14 All-Star team.
Becki Sullivan, 11, competed at the Super Regionals for the second straight year.
Cape Coral was well-represented. Emma Johnson placed second in the 7-8 division, while Amber Plaza placed second in the 13-14 division.
Brooke Lynn Ciccone, 10, had another strong showing at the Super Regionals. She placed third in the 9-10 division. Ciccone won the regional title last year.
