Miracle drop 2nd in a row
DAYTONA BEACH – Chris Parmelee has homered in two straight and Deibinson Romero hit his second homer in as many series, but the Daytona Cubs got to Tyler Robertson early in a 6-4 loss for the Fort Myers Miracle.
Parmelee’s home run was to straightaway center in the eighth inning, while Romero’s went out to left in the fourth. Unfortunately, the Miracle never led after red-hot Robinson Chirinos and Jovan Rosa went back-to-back to begin the second inning. The Cubs (27-28) added one run each in the third and fourth, and two more in the fifth.
The Miracle (38-21) showed signs of life in the ninth. Romero was down to his final strike with two outs when he drove in Chris Cates to cut the lead to two, but Parmelee struck out with a runner at first to end the inning.
Romero finished 3-for-5 with two singles, a home run, and two RBI. Nick Romero was 3-for-4, all singles, and despite the game-ending strikeout Parmelee was 2-for-5.
Cubs All-Star Ryan Searle will face the Miracle’s Deolis Guerra Friday night.
