Firecats get 1st look at Coyotes
The Florida Firecats and Central Valley Coyotes have never met on the gridiron before – before this Saturday night, that is.
The Firecats (4-6) are looking to extend their modest one-game winning streak against the Coyotes (3-7), who are riding a streak of four straight defeats. Firecats coach Kevin Bouis, in his fifth season with the franchise, is trying to earn his 55th career coaching win while helping the franchise record its 98th career victory.
The season stats seem to imply the two teams are rather equal.
The Coyotes are fourth in the National Conference West while the Firecats are fourth in the American Conference South. Both teams have scored nearly the same number of points – 500 for the Firecats and 490 for the Coyotes. Their defenses have given up 556 and 571 points, respectively.
With six games remaining, the Firecats are fighting for their playoff lives. They currently rank seventh among the top eight teams trying to qualify for the postseason.
Kickoff is 10 p.m. Saturday in Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif.
