Gulf Middle trims Oasis in tennis
As the middle school athletic season winds down into its final days, Gulf Middle School took on Oasis Middle School in boys’ and girls’ tennis Wednesday afternoon.
The match took the teams to the Mid-Cape Racquet & Health Club’s clay courts, many of the players’ first exposure to the slip-and-slide style of play on clay.
Gulf’s girls pulled out a 3-2 victory while Gulf’s boys earned a 4-1 decision.
In the girls’ matches, Deniece Bent (5-3) and Brittany Webb-Martin (5-3) won at singles while Christy Flynn and Emily Hauff teamed up to win in doubles, also 5-3.
Among the boys’ matches, Caleb Littlestone (5-0), Chris Carrillo (5-4) and Aviv Hadad (5-0) swept all three singles matchups. Doubles partners Daniel Digby and Matthew Harrison won their match 5-0.
