VANDY MAJOR Grounds crew and volunteers remove the tarp from the Hammond Stadium field after waiting for more than an hour for rainshowers to stop. The tarp went back on the field after just a few batters in the first inning with more rain. The game was cancelled, and will not be made up, since the Miracle and Reds are not scheduled to face each other again in the Florida State League’s first-half.

VANDY MAJOR A brave fan of the Fort Myers Miracle amuses the crowd by “bodysurfing” on top of the wet field tarp Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium. Rainsoaked fans in the stands called him “safe” when he got to to home plate. The Miracle game with the Sarasota Reds eventually was called off due to the rain.

Miracle fans from Cape Coral Samantha Rajiah, Ben Hart and Jordan Rajiah don’t let the rain dampen their spirits Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium. Badly needed rainshowers delayed the start of the Miracle game with Sarasota for more than an hour, then returned in the first inning to postpone the game for the night.
