Top performer

Special to the Breeze
Last weekend, 34 members of Swim Florida-Cape Coral competed in the U.S. Swimming-sanctioned meet at Collier County YMCA Norris Pool in Naples. The top performer for the Cape group was Monica Jaeger, 13, who won high-point honors for 13-14 year-old girls. She placed first in the 100 and 200 butterfly, second in the 200 IM and 200 back, and third in the 100 backstroke. Her times in the IM and backstroke events qualified her for the Junior Olympic Championships in July at FGCU, plus freestyle times landed her in the Senior Championships in July at Fort Pierce. Jason Tillotson, 11, qualified for five Junior Olympic events and Sydney Ortiz-Quintana, 13, picked up two J.O. and Senior qualifying times.
