Miracle roll over Reds

1 min read

SARASOTA – Joe Benson had a pair of two-run homers on two line drives Tuesday night in a 10-3 defeat of the Sarasota Reds at Ed Smith Stadium.

Carlos Gutierrez (1-1) won his first decision of the season with a seven-inning, six-hit, three-run performance in which he walked just one and struck out six. Spencer Steedley and Henry Arias combined on a hitless eighth and ninth with one strikeout each.

The Miracle (16-9) jumped on the board in the first inning on Danny Berg’s two-out RBI single. They added one in the third and four in the fourth, thanks to Ben Revere’s RBI single, Deibinson Romero’s RBI double, another Berg RBI single, and a Chris Parmelee sacrifice fly.

The biggest blasts came from Benson (3-for-5), who twice came up to bat with no one out and Parmelee on first base – in the seventh and in the ninth.

Deolis Guerra will start Wednesday’s series finale for the Miracle.
