Redfish Cup set to launch
The 2009 Redfish Cup kicks off this weekend at Punta Gorda’s Laishley Park in Charlotte Harbor. Nearly 60 two-man teams will battle for saltwater supremacy and a $40,000 first-place prize.
The nation’s premier three-day fishing event begins at 7 a.m. Friday with the launch and ends with the dramatic final day weigh-in at 3 p.m. Sunday when one team will walk away with the $40,000 grand prize. It’s the first stop of the season in the race for the Academy Team of the Year award.
Now in its seventh year, the tournament is broadcast on ESPN2 on July 4 at 8:30 a.m.
