Rubinski lands at Stetson

It’s been a lifelong goal for Ida Baker senior Miles Rubinski to play baseball at the highest collegiate level. As a strong student, carrying a 4.6 GPA, Rubinski is thinking beyond the playing field.
A brand new science facility at Stetson University is one of the factors that led Rubinski to select the school for his college future.
“I like it because most of my core classes will be in one building,” said Rubinski, who plans to double major in chemistry and physics.
Rubinski signed a baseball scholarship letter-of-intent Thursday with Stetson.
Along with his success in the classroom, Rubinski has been a key player for the Bulldogs during his four years on the varsity baseball team.
He’s brought consistent hitting to the team – often batting near the .400 plateau – and has shown versatility in the outfield and on the pitcher’s mound.
He’ll play college ball for the Hatters, who are members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
“Miles has been a really good player for us at varsity for four years,” said Bulldogs coach Chad Turner. “He’s just a great kid all-around. Good attitude. The type of player every coach wants.”
Rubinski, born in Cape Coral, joined the Bulldogs just as their program was getting started. He played football his freshman and sophomore years, but baseball continued to be his primary sport.
Playing at Baker allowed him the opportunity to compete in Class 5A against outstanding competition.
Rubinski said that was his goal for college. He’s not sure how far he’ll make it in the game, after high school, but wants to take a shot against the highest level possible.
“(Stetson) will be a good place for me to improve as a player or it will be a great way to end my baseball career,” he said.
