Prep Report: South rally tops Baker
Matt Mattia and Dustin Mishka each had doubles and Jason Eick went 2-for-4 with two singles, but Ida Baker lost to ing South Fort Myers 6-2 Tuesday night in an LCAC crossover game.
The Bulldogs (9-15) play at Charlotte Thursday.

Girls Tennis
Region 2A-6: Bishop Verot dominated Tuesday’s singles matches against Naples Lely so thoroughly, they didn’t need to play doubles.
The Vikings dropped just four games over five straight-set singles matches to dispose of Lely 5-0 in the regional semifinal at Ace Tennis Center.
Linda Kornienko (No. 1) defeated Alex Barrett 6-0, 6-0; Mariel Rickert (No. 2) downed Jenny Stout 6-0, 6-1; Nia-Marie Eddie (No. 3) beat Katrese Daniel 6-0, 6-1; Kayla Cheslosky (No. 4) blanked Sophie Payne 6-0, 6-0; and Kathleen Norris stopped Taylor Crouse 6-1, 6-1.
The Vikings host the Naples Golden Eagles Thursday in the regional final at 3 p.m. at the Ace Tennis Center.
Boys Tennis
Region 2A-6: Bishop Verot lost just one singles match en route to beating Naples Lely 6-1 Tuesday in the regional semifinal round at Fort Myers Racquet Club.
Verot’s Kap Owen (No. 1) lost to Matt Brown 6-0, 6-0, while his teammates all posted wins. Zak Gibson (No. 2) defeated Tyler Smith 6-1, 6-1; Phil Palmon (No. 3) topped Joe Matthews 6-2, 6-2; Antony Mathew (No. 4) beat Shane Burton 6-1, 6-1; and Christian Padgett (No. 5) downed Michael Lewis 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, Owens and Gibson prevailed over Brown and Smith 8-5 while Palmon and Mathew won 8-1 over Matthews and Burton.
The Vikings host Naples Thursday in the regional finals at 3 p.m. at Fort Myers Racquet Club.
