Baker hosting indoor soccer
Word is getting out about the Indoor Soccer Tournament hosted by Ida Baker. After a successful event last spring, Baker welcomes more teams to this year’s second engagement which began Friday.
“We had to cut a few teams off the list,” Baker coach Mick Whitewood said. “It was really popular last year, so this is the second one.”
The tournament kicked off Friday at 5 p.m. in Baker’s gymnasium and resumes Saturday at 9 a.m.
Schools participating include Baker, Cape Coral, Mariner, Bishop Verot, Fort Myers, Lehigh, Riverdale, North Port, Charlotte, and one team from West Palm Beach.
Some schools split into two teams for the 6-on-6 format. One game is played at a time, consisting of two 10-minute halves.
