Prep Report: Zunino’s 10th HR lifts Tritons
Mariner senior Michael Zunino tied his own school single-season home run record, smacking his 10th of the year, in the Tritons 6-3 win over North Fort Myers Thursday night in the Bud Roth Tournament at Terry Park.
Zunino went 3-for-4 and Alex Santana had a two-run triple. Chris Ford worked six innings for the win.
The Tritons face Ida Baker for third place in the tournament at 7 p.m. Friday at Terry Park.

Bishop Verot 10, Palm Coast 0: Tyler Bender pitched a complete-game two-hitter and Bobby Borchering clubbed a grand slam home run in the fifth inning to seal Bishop Verot’s third win in the Bud Roth tournament.
Borchering finished with four RBI while Tommy Dougherty went 4-for-4 with two RBI and Maxx Moore laced a pair of doubles in the Vikings’ 11-hit attack.
The Vikings (10-12) take on undefeated Pendleton Academy in the championship game at 7 p.m. Friday at Terry Park.

Tennis
District 2A-11: Bishop Verot is one step closer to successfully defending its girls’ district championship with all five singles players advancing to Friday’s finals and both doubles teams set for semifinal round play at FGCU.
Linda Kornienko (No. 1), Mariel Rickert (No. 2), Kayla Cheslosky (No. 4) and Kathleen Norris (No. 5) all face Lemon Bay opponents in today’s championship singles matches. Nia-Marie Eddie (No. 3) faces an Estero rival.
The Vikings lead Lemon Bay in the team standings by one point through Thursday’s play. Either Lemon Bay or Verot have claimed the district team title in the past four years.
In doubles, Rickert and Kornienko, and Eddie and Norris are poised to help seal the outcome for the Vikings.
The top two teams advance to regional play.
Softball
Naples 10, Ida Baker 2: Sophomore Katie Rieser smacked a two-run homer in the fifth, but it was all the Bulldogs could muster against Naples in the opening game of the Bill Longshore Classic.
The Bulldogs (12-10) continue with two games Saturday.

Mariner 15, Lehigh 0: MacKenzie Hunt finished a single shy of the cycle in an LCAC crossover win against Lehigh. Hunt finished with a home run, double and triple. She also picked up the win on the mound with six strikeouts.
