Miracle pull out 4-3 win

2 min read

Ben Revere’s bases-loaded double down the right-field line capped a thrilling comeback that lifted the Fort Myers Miracle to a 4-3 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads Thursday at Hammond Stadium.

Trailing 3-1, Revere came to the plate with the bags packed and one out before delivering a fly ball double on a 2-0 count. Miracle players mobbed each other at home plate to celebrate after struggling against some tough Jupiter pitching.

The win went to Spencer Steedley (1-0), who recorded two outs in the top of the ninth. The Hammerheads’ Blake Jones (0-1) took a blown save and the loss after giving up three hits and three runs, all of them earned.

Jupiter’s Kyle Winters and Fort Myers’ David Bromberg, who pitched five strong innings surrendering a solo home run to Thomas Hickman in the fifth, got no-decisions.

Danny Berg and Mark Dolenc led off the ninth with back-to-back singles. Jair Fernandez sacrificed the runners to second and third, and pinch-hitter Steve Singleton was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Revere drilled a fly ball down the line in right, landing several feet fair, and all three runners scored for the walk-off victory.

The Miracle (5-2) hit the road for a three-game series at St. Lucie starting Friday.
