Prep Report: Tritons notch 15th win
A nine-run outburst in the third inning ignited the Mariner Tritons to a 13-0, five-inning victory over Whitley County (Ky.) Monday night.
Six of the Tritons’ 11 base hits went for extra bases. Daniel Alimonti (4-for-4) led the surge with a double and a home run for four RBI. The effort boosted his team-leading batting average to .517.
Michael Zunino added two hits, including a double, while Bryan O’Connor and Audry Santana contributed doubles, and Walter Cleary homered.
Ryan Patton (5-1) allowed two base hits and picked up the win on the mound.
The Tritons (15-2) host Minneapolis Southwest at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Island Coast 15, Gateway Charter 7: Sophomore Jordan Moody smacked the first home run in Island Coast baseball history, connecting for a three-run blast in the second inning of the Gators’ win over Gateway Charter at Buckingham Park.
For Moody, it’s the first home of his career at any level of baseball.
On this day of firsts, senior Marco LoSauro hit a solo homer in the seventh for the Gators, the first of his career.
“We were talking about that before the game and they both said they had never hit a home run before,” Gators coach Clint Montgomery said.
Moody finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, while LoSauro went 4-for-5 with four RBI. Kyle Harding started and picked up the win on the mound for the Gators.
The Gators (9-9) play Canterbury at Brooks Park Thursday at 4 p.m.

Cape Coral 10, Minneapolis Southwest 7: Alex Torres and Nick Gillogly delivered two doubles apiece as Cape Coral pounded out a victory over Minneapolis Southwest.
The Seahawks (4-14) host Whitley County (Ky.) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Hawkstock concert: The annual HawkStock Round 2 benefit outdoor concert is scheduled for April 18 at Cape Coral High’s baseball field.
The event presents 10 underground bands from as far away as Miami and Tampa for 10 hours of non-stop music, beginning at noon.
Tickets to the concert are $10 in advance or $12 at the gate. Advance tickets are available at Rick’s Music on Cape Coral Parkway or from The Home Pros (340-3793). Proceeds from the concert benefit the Cape High baseball program and construction of field bathrooms and concession stand.
Bands performing include the Tree Top Flyers, Retro Light, Absentee Ballot, After the Fact, Wedge Piece, Withstand the Fire, The Found, Call it Radar, Rimsky and Leading the Heroes.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold at the event.
