Prep Report: Seahawks top Jaguars
Senior Nick Gillogly launched a solo home run in the fifth inning and the Cape Coral Seahawks went on to top East Lee County 9-5 Tuesday night.
The back-and-forth game saw the Seahawks pull ahead with four runs in the seventh. Beau McIlhargey picked up the win in relief.
The Seahawks (3-11) host H.D. Jacobs (Ill.) Wednesday.
Barron Collier 6, Ida Baker 1: A two-out error opened the door to a four-run first inning and Ida Baker never recovered at Barron Collier.
Matt Mattia stuck out seven in a strong outing, but the Bulldogs surrendered five unearned runs.
Baker’s run came in the top of the seventh. Mike Gulotta doubled, Jason Eick followed with a single and Kevin Cavanaugh got the RBI.
The Bulldogs (6-9) play at Cape Coral Thursday.

Girls Tennis
Cape Coral 5, Island Coast 2: Cape Coral and Island Coast split matches Tuesday, but a shortage of players forced Island Coast to forfeit three matches and hand Cape Coral the overall victory.
Kenzi Polotto won at No. 1 singles and teamed with Kelsey Gates to win No. 1 doubles, accounting for both points for the Gators (2-6), who host Ida Baker Wednesday.
Kaitlyn Dampier and Ella Baar won singles matches for the Seahawks (9-2), who are back in action Thursday at Mariner.

North Fort Myers 7, Cypress Lake 0: North Fort Myers swept all matches to down Cypress Lake and improve to 4-7 on the season heading into Thursday’s match with Fort Myers.

Cypress Lake 6, North Fort Myers 1: Cypress Lake nearly swept North Fort Myers, were it not for Bradley Allen’s win at No. 4 singles.

Softball
Cape Coral 20, East Lee County 0: Freshmen Amanda Kopale and Payton DiLallo sparked Cape Coral to a five-inning romp over host East Lee County.
Kopale had two triples and two RBI and DiLallo drove in two runs.
Tara Higgins finished with a triple and two RBI. Shannon McBride had two RBI and picked up the win on the mound, allowing two hits.
The Seahawks (6-9) have won back-to-back games this week, including a comeback victory over Bishop Verot Monday. They host Ida Baker Thursday.

Ida Baker 7, Barron Collier 4: After falling behind 3-0, Ida Baker used clutch hits to rally past Collier.
Senior Caitlin Holloway cleared the bases with a three-run double in the third and with the score tied 4-4, the Bulldogs went to work again in the top of the sixth.
Shanelly Brown delivered a two-run single and Tara Sozio added an RBI single, producing the three-run margin. Senior Kayla Vetter went all seven innings for the win.
Baker (10-7) visits rival Cape Coral Thursday.
