The Mariner Tritons used a strong second-half effort to turn back Riverdale 53-42 Tuesday night.

If nothing else, the Tritons (11-13) gained some confidence heading into the regular-season finale Thursday night at Frank Morris Gymnasium when they play for seventh place in the LCAC against – Riverdale.

Kameron Beach pitched in a season-high 25 points to lead the Tritons, who got 11 rebounds from Travis Edwards.

Thursday’s rematch with the Raiders is designated as a Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser game to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Bishop Verot 68, St. John Neumann 30: Three players scored in double figures to lead Bishop Verot to a costly victory over St. John Neumann.

Etienne Effenberg led the way with 18 points, Brennen Melvin hit 16 and Nate Howard added 11 for the Vikings (17-7). Jacquard Hagan chipped in with nine points before going down in the second quarter with an ankle injury.

Verot coach Matt Herting said Hagan is maybe 50/50 able to play Saturday night against Fort Myers in the regular-season finale at the Vikings’ gym.
