FGCU women win 6th in a row
Four Eagles scored in double figures and Kristina Mingos grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds as Florida Gulf Coast defeated Stetson 77-66 Monday night at Alico Arena.
In the opening 10 minutes, everything went right as the Eagles opened a 25-6 lead. FGCU led by as many as 21 in the first half, but went the locker room at halftime up by 18 points.
In second half, FGCU held off the Hatters, who tried to get back into the fray by turning up their defensive pressure. Stetson eventually cut the lead to nine points, but the Eagles (15-4, 8-3 A-Sun) hung on for their sixth straight win.
Chelsea Lyles had a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 5-of-6 from behind the three-point line. Adrianne McNally nearly picked up the first triple-double with 15 points, nine assists, and eight boards.
Mingos, in only her second career start, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Kelsey Jacobson chipped in with 10 points.
The next game for the Eagles is Thursday night when the Lipscomb Bison visit Fort Myers for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Alico Arena.
