Island Coast, Verot change class
Seven Lee and Collier county schools were approved to change class and districts for next fall by the FHSAA Friday.
Island Coast moved down to Class 2B and joins Cardinal Mooney, Clewiston, Dunbar, Gateway Charter, LaBelle and Lake Placid in District 6.
Bishop Verot and Cypress Lake were approved to move up one class. Verot lands in Class 3A and shares District 11 with Fort Myers, Mariner, North Fort Myers, Riverdale and South Fort Myers. Cypress and Barron Collier join Class 3A District 12 with East Lee County, Golden Gate, Lehigh, Lely and Naples.
Gulf Coast drops down to Class 4A into District 12 with Ida Baker, Cape Coral and Palmetto Ridge. That’s the highest class ranking for any school in either county.
Estero drops into Class 2A and shares District 6 with DeSoto County, Hardee County and Immokalee.
Evangelical Christian drops into Class 1B to face St. John Neumann, Southwest Florida Christian and four other schools.
