Everblades swap forwards with AHL

The Florida Everblades played swap the forwards with the American Hockey League Tuesday.

The Blades sent Patrick Bordeleau to the AHL’s Springfield Falcons while Andrew Sweetland was reassigned here by the Rochester Americans.

Bordeleau, 22, heads to Springfield after having appeared in five games with the Everblades and 18 games with the now defunct Augusta Lynx this season. He contributed a combined 10 points (4g, 6a) in 23 games in the ECHL.

The call-up to the AHL is the second for Bordeleau, who skated in three games with the Albany River Rats earlier this season.

Sweetland, 22, was assigned to the Everblades by the Florida Panthers after the rookie played in two games with the Americans during his current stint. He returns to the Blades where he has four points (2g, 2a) in seven games.

ersey auction: The Carolina Hurricanes’ NHL jerseys worn by the Everblades last Saturday night are now available at auction online at e-bay.

Each jersey worn during that game is up for bid until Jan. 15.

The Everblades and Checkers collided in an “NHL Game” at Germain Arena that featured both teams wearing jerseys of their NHL affiliate. The Blades wore white Hurricanes jerseys and the Checkers wore the familiar blue Rangers jerseys.

The Blades’ jerseys also feature a patch with the Autism Speaks logo and a portion of the proceeds raised through the auction will help with Autism awareness in southwest Florida.

The Everblades return to home ice at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday when they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
