Cape area soccer teams perform well
The Island Coast Soccer Alliance U15 Boys Team completed its impressive performance at the Tampa Bay Sun Bowl College Showcase Tuesday.
The ICSA tied Tennessee State Champions Brentwood, Tenn. 1-1, but fell 10-9 in penalty kicks to decide the championship. The thrilling finish came down to the 11th round of penalty kicks. The ICSA went 3-0-3 overall.
The team, coached by Aldo Nardiello, consists of Jordan Taylor, Sean Tannassee, Shane Jones, Marco Nardiello, Yury Bykau, Eric Agostinelli, Nathan Stone, Kevin Hurley, Caio Amaral, Olivier Benedict, Santiago Villamil, Kevin Lopera, Juan Cano, Juan Valadez and Ron Lind
Several ICSA girls’ teams competed in the 12th Annual Orange Classic Tournament in Broward County Saturday through Tuesday. The ICSA Black squad won the championship in the U14 green division.
They swept all three games to advance from Bracket 2 and then defeated Coral Springs 1-0 in the semifinals and CCO Cobras 2-1 in the finals.
The championship team surrendered only one goal in the five games.
